Over 100,000 people attended 180 multifarious events held from September 30 to October 9 as part of four far-reaching projects overseen by Fund Forum and partners: Style.Uz Art Week, the Second Tashkent International Cinema Forum ‘Golden Guepard’, the Third International Festival ‘Theatre.UZ/2012’ and the Sixth Tashkent International Photo Biennale.

World-famous Greek singer Demis Roussos performed an exciting concert on the last day of Style.Uz Art Week 2012, rendering the finale of the week-long cultural celebration melodic and unforgettable. Held at Tashkent’s Istiqlol Palace of Art, the concert was an opportunity for those gathered to reminisce about the past, learn sirtaki dance moves and sing along with the singer.

Two photographers, Aitor Lara of Spain and Naoyuki Ogino of Japan, shared their skills with Uzbek colleagues at a workshop at the Tashkent House of Photography on October 9, the final day of Style.Uz 2012. The two professionals focused on how to combine oriental philosophy and magical realism in photography.

Gulnara Karimova, the designer behind the Guli label, presented her eagerly-awaited fragrances, ‘Victorious’ for men and ‘Mysterieuse’ for women, on October 8 as part of Style.Uz Art Week 2012. The designer also showed her latest Autumn 2012 – Winter 2013 Collection as well as new jewelry. The attending guests were in for a surprise.

UK’s Matthew Williamson is another A-list designer brand that added fashion glitz to this year’s Style.Uz Art Week. The fashion house presented its designs on October 8 at the Youth Art Palace.

Colorful, original and inimitable Azerbaijani rugs and carpets of varied patterns, styles and thickness made up the exhibition titled ‘Magical Knots’ at the Center of National Arts in Tashkent on October 8.

Watercolor swirls, brush-stroke prints and architectural layers made up Carolina Herrera’s latest collection that was presented today at the Youth Art palace. The designer’s signature nipped-at-the-waist gowns were done up in bursts of red, plum, and blue, with black and gray providing graphic contrast.

Upscale timepieces, exquisite baubles and deluxe pens were a feast for the eyes at the presentations by Montblanc and Piaget, two of the world’s leading brands, held on October 7 at Hotel Dedeman in Tashkent.

At the tandem of festivals – the closing ceremony for the Third International Theatre Festival Theatre.UZ and the National Dress Festival on October 7 at Center of National Art the author of project Style.Uz Art Week, the chairperson of the Fund Forum Board of Trustees, Gulnara Karimova, told those gathered about what the capital city’s and regional theatres and 20 Uzbek designers and theatres of Bulgaria, Russia, Israel, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan did during the whole year.

Nine pieces of 19th- and early 20th-century Uzbek jewelry selected by MEROS as well as two pieces by Guli representing modern interpretations of traditional ethnic jewelry went under the hammer at an auction on October 7.
